Ultra marathon runner Deb Nicholl will hit the pool rather than the running track to raise funds for cancer research.
Deb will aqua jog for more than seven hours in the Mater Foundation鈥檚 Smiling for Smiddy 10km Swim Challenge at 果冻传媒鈥檚 Aquatic Centre on 25 August.
Deb will begin her race at 1am to cross the finish line with swimming participants who are expected to be in the water for three hours..
鈥淢y aunty had breast and liver cancer and she always maintained a positive attitude,鈥 Deb said.
鈥淭he least I can do is take part in this challenge and help to develop new treatments for cancer patients.鈥
Deb broke the Australian record in the 2013 Caboolture 24-Hour Race, running 239.6km around a 500 metre track over 24 hours.
